Paris Proposal Photographer

Having got my contact from the Irish Cultural Centre in the latin quarter in the 5th arrondissement here in Paris, Stephen contacted me to see if I would be available to shoot his planned surprise engagement in the coming weeks.

Luckily I was and since he lived in London, I helped him organise flowers, a driver and we of course chatted over the phone about how the proposal would go down.Jacqueline, his future fiancé, believed she was going on a week-end away with her sister but must have soon realised something was up when she dropped to St. Pancras and boarded the Eurostar on her own. 

I met Stephen some time before her arrival at Gare du Nord in the courtyard of the centre where I helped him find the best place for the proposal. He set up the table with a white cloth for the Champagne and macarons he brought for the occasion which he decorated with fairy lights and a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

With the help of an application, Stephen knew exactly when Jacqueline would arrive and he was ready when she came through the doors of the CCI. I stayed back, capturing the moment from a distance in order to give them space, Jacqueline later told me she did not notice my presence until I introduced myself.

Once she said yes,  they cracked open the Champagne and celebrated. The courtyard of the centre was very quiet and the perfect place to get lovely photos of the happy couple. 

With some time to spare, we took off to the 7th arrondissement for a night shoot. They chose a street with an emotional attachment where they stayed a few years ago when they lived in Paris. We arrived just as the Eiffel Tower was sparkling on the hour, the perfect time to get great night shots.
